Ollie's Bargain Outlet's Grand Opening held today at River Ridge Plaza

Oct 9, 2013

Ollie's Bargain Outlet opened in Anderson, Indiana today. Ollie's also had an opening recently in Carmel, Indiana. The Mayor of Anderson attended the event this morning and had this to say: "I have done lots of ribbon cuttings and I've never seen 100 people or so waiting to get into any new store opening!" The store was packed all day and River Ridge is very excited!

Revitalizing River Ridge Plaza

2013 marks Indianapolis-based Sandor’s 50th anniversary in the retail development and management business.   Since it developed the project in the mid-1970s, Sandor has owned and operated what is known today as River Ridge Plaza in Anderson.  River Ridge stands directly across from Mounds Mall on Scatterfield Road.   Over the years, as the established mall trade area evolved and grew further south as new newer retail centers were developed near I-69, River Ridge saw original anchors close, only to be replaced by different anchors.   “Sandor understands when/why these trade areas tend to shift; however, even though a lot of retail moved south in the trade area, Sandor continues to invest in Anderson and River Ridge,” stated Sandor President, David Eskenazi.

Over the past five years, Sandor has begun a major revitalization effort with its older properties like River Ridge.   Where needed, new facades, parking lot enhancements, and updated paint schemes have injected life into such centers.    In Anderson, it has paid off at River Ridge.  During the last year, Sandor signed a new lease for Rose’s to replace the 65,000 square foot anchor space most recently occupied by Hobby Lobby (originally built for Kohl’s).  A former PharMor anchor space, vacant for 20 years, is being renovated and split for a new Ollie’s Bargain Outlet which will open by year-end.   Both Rose’s and Ollie’s are new retailers to Indiana.  Sandor is pleased that they selected Anderson and River Ridge for their initial market entries.   Tenants that have recently committed to River Ridge by renewing leases include Joann Fabrics, Radio Shack, Subway, Mancino’s, El Maguey and Total Tan.  Other national retailers operating at River Ridge include Big Lots, Papa John’s Pizza, Verizon Wireless, Rally’s, McDonald’s and Ponderosa.

In conjunction with its “ Retail Revitalized” Anderson project, River Ridge will consider holding events at the center such as  car shows, open houses, carnivals, or even charity events.   Jeff Roberts, Sandor’s Leasing Representative for River Ridge, is originally from Anderson, so this property is even more near and dear to his heart. “It is a pleasure to market the wonderful features Anderson has to offer, while working with national, regional, and local tenants.  I understand the challenges that my hometown faces, and I look forward to being involved in the revitalization of not only our shopping center, but also the local community,” said Roberts.

There is more to come and Sandor is very excited about the revitalization of River Ridge. Please contact Jeff Roberts for more information and aggressive leasing opportunities: 317-439-5977 or
