Eskenazi Health is still on schedule to be completed in December 2013 and it is the only hospital in the nation to achieve a Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification. This achievement is appointed by the U.S. Green Building Council and affirms its sustainable design and construction. The hospital showcases a lot of natural light throughout, energy efficient technologies and their specialized sky farm. The sky farm is filled with fresh, organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc., which will then be served in the cafeteria. It also acts as a peaceful area for patients, family and friends to come enjoy the fresh air and beautiful views. The sky farm is one-of-a-kind and is located on the roof of the hospital, seven stories above the city. It sits right outside the Outpatient Care Center. There are also features in the sky farm such as solar panels and devices which allow the hospital to reuse rainwater. It is truly a gift to the city of Indianapolis.
